LAURA PANTE (1983) is a dancemaker based in Venice and Bruxelles where she is actually attending A.PASS (Advanced Performance and Scenography Studies), a post master program at Posthogeschool door PodiumKunsten.

After receiveing a MA graduation at IUAV-Venice Architecture University with a thesis on science philosophy in which she analyzed the relationship between motor learning system and design practices, she oriented her research to dance praxis. Her visions, insights and practices around drawing, photography, architecture, and her job experience as graphic designer and model are combined into her artistic processes. She is interested in a kind of movement research that involves thought into a gymnastic towards the pursuit of its expansion in time and space in order to initiate a critical reflection and activity around human survival policies.

From 2017 she works as an assitant for the new Master Course on Theatre and Performance Art, at IUAV - Venice Architecture University, where she also gave a workshop on her movement research practice, and she mentors the students’ researches. In this context she worked with the photographer Luca Del Pia giving a performance lecture on her artistic practicies. She likes to introduce people into an expanded thinking practice through both bodily and mental movement. She loves to create confusion, distraction, destruction, deconstruction in order to challenge the language, the coded one we use to take as model for our design processees. She is actually studying different kind of codes of movements from 1920 rhythm gymnastic to contemporary dance and performance to analyse the seductive power of the body and its use and abouse, giving a particular fosus on the totalitarian regimes and the contemporary globalized capitalism body technology.

Since 2019 she is initiating a new way to collaborate with artists and choreograpghers reflecting on the sharing moment as a zone of expanded thinking where she produce vision of the future and the past in order to destabilize and rewrite together the dramaturgy of the narrative at stake. She is following this generative practice within Cristina Rizzo’s new project. In March 2019 she started a collaboration with the visual culture magazine cactusdigitale.com where she publishes her insights on the agency of performativity in the work of different dance maker, festivals and artistic practicies.

Coming from a youthful acknowledgement on classical, modern, contemporary dance and gymnastic, since 2010, after her studies and her years of work as a graphic designer, she developed her dance practice in Italy and abroad with: Cristina Rizzo, Raffaella Giordano, Michele Abbondanza and Antonella Bertoni, Claudia Catellucci, Meg Stuart, Xavier Leroy, Marten Spangberg, Giselle Vienne, Yasmine Hugonnet and many more.

In January 2014 she received a one-year scholarship from Raffaella Giordano for Sosta Palmizi dance company and in November 2016 she finished the three years learning program on a somatic dance techniques connected to the practice of osteopathic touch, directed by Claude Coldy.

Since 2012 she worked as a dancer and performer for various artists in the fields of theatre, visual art and performance. In July 2019 she attended the two weeks research program “Say yes to the wind” directed by Meg Stuart and Mark Tompkins at studio Burdag in Poland. In August 2018 she danced for Giséle Vienne in the occasion of Biennale Theatre College in Venice. In November 2017 she was invited from Tanztendenz to take part to the “5th International Choreographers’ Atelier” in Munchen. She worked as a performer for Silvia Costa in two of her works titled “Alla Traccia, lode a ciò che è stato rimosso” 2016, and “A sangue freddo” 2015. She performed for the visual and video artist Anna Franceschini in many of her last performances presented in solo and collective art exhibitions in Italy and abroad. From April to May 2017 she worked for Bayerishe Staatsoper of Munich as a dancer in “Tannhauser” directed by Romeo Castellucci, choreography by Cindy Van Acker. In August 2016 she worked in “Ethica - Natura e origine della mente” by Societas/Romeo Castellucci for Venice Biennal of Theatre 2016, she was a performer also in “Giudizio. Possibilità. Essere” by Romeo Castellucci and Societas Raffaello Sanzio and in may 2014 she worked as a solo dancer in “Unheard” a vision of Romeo Castellucci, music by scott Gibbons for Angelica festival, Music Research Center, at Teatro San Leonardo, in Bologna. She was in Biennale Dance College in Venice in 2014, 2015 and 2016 as a dancer in “Bolero effect” directed by Cristina Rizzo, in “Title in process” a excerpt from “Low pieces” by Xavier Le Roy and Scarlet Yu, and in “Unfolding figures” by Yasmine Hugonnet. In August 2014 she worked as a dancer in “Armida” an opera directed by Luca Ronconi c/o Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, coreography by Abbondanza - Bertoni dance company.

Since 2015 she presented her choreographic projects: in 2016, her solo project “Untail 2000.16” for “Assemblaggi Provvisori”, produced by la Tenuta dello scompiglio - Vorno, Lucca, in collaboration with Miranda Secondari with whom she is developing “Ex” a performance around gymnastic. In 2015 she won “Choreographic Collision 7” with “Cute” a choreographic project performed by Francesca Antonino and Alessandra Bordino, produced by DanzaVenezia.
